As an artist, I see my work as a bridge between humanity and nature, fostering deeper connections with ourselves and the world around us ultimately creating hope for change. Through my ongoing Water Yourself series, I reimagine plants as people, drawing inspiration from everyday experiences, people actions, to the diversity of nature, to challenges and love we navigate. Each piece incorporates flowers and leaf heads to symbolize different nationalities, character traits, journeys. The bodies of my figures take the form of stems and roots, intertwining with the natural curves and imperfections of the human body. Together, they represent the energy and resilience we all carry within us. These figures, called messengers, serve as reminders to nurture ourselves, embrace our imperfections. Celebrating the beauty of growth and transformation no matter the circumstances.

I believe plants embody the idea that simply being is enough. Too often, we convince ourselves that we’re not enough instead of recognizing what’s affecting us and what needs are going unmet. Just like a plant needs the right environment to thrive, we need to nurture ourselves in the same way. My work explores the deep interconnection we share much like an ecosystem, where every part plays a role in supporting the whole.

The foundation of my fine artist  journey began with a profound personal experience: donating a kidney to my sister in 2014. This act of giving not only deepened my gratitude for life but also ignited solidified my life purpose. It inspired me to establish JS.REBIRTH in 2018, an initiative grounded in the belief that through self-love and connection, we can transform our lives and contribute to the betterment of the world. This philosophy informs every aspect of my art, from the stories embedded in my messengers, workshops and classes I teach to inspire others.

Acrylic and watercolor have always been my foundation. Acrylic allows me to build bold, textured layers that hold vibrancy and the raw energy of life. Watercolor, on the other hand, provides flow, letting the forms breathe, shift, and mimic nature’s organic movement. I’ve been pushing my work further by incorporating ribbons, and leaves, adding tactile elements that deepen the connection between art and nature. I collect materials through thrifting and donations, reinforcing how overconsumption affects both us and the world around us. At the same time, it ties into something deeper the idea that my gift to the audience is hope.I’ve also kept in mind how I can create faster and make my art more accessible, which led me to dive into digital art. I’ve learned to create illustrations and short stop-motion animations, expanding the ways I share my work.

My goal is to use my art to reconnect humanity with the essence of hope to inspire others to care for themselves and the world around them. I hope to expand the impact of my practice, creating works that not only tell stories of resilience and transformation but also challenge and invite others to reflect, grow, and thrive.
